J'ai identifié le problème comme étant lié à différentes versions de pilotes xorg. Mon fichier /etc/apt/sources.list sur le système mis à niveau est le suivant:

Je suis maintenant incapable de réinstaller le paquet xserver-xorg (le paquet xserver-xorg n'a pas de candidat à l'installation). Quelqu'un peut-il poster le contenu des fichiers sources.list sur un poste de travail Ubuntu 14.04.01 avec un paquet xserver fonctionnel?
En voici un standard, mais si vos paquets sont en quelque sorte gâchés, changer votre sources.list
pourrait ne pas suffire.
