Écran HDMI externe sur Ubuntu 16.04, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M

Question

Mon ordinateur portable Dell Inspiron 7566 avec Ubuntu 16.04 ne peut pas détecter le moniteur externe Dell W2709 connecté au port HDMI.

J'ai essayé:

démarrer avec l'écran connecté,
connexion de l'écran après la connexion,
déconnecter et reconnecter
Paramètres système/Affichages/Détecter les affichages

Rien ne fonctionne, l'écran reste en mode d'économie d'énergie, ce qui est son comportement habituel lorsqu'il n'y a pas de signal. Et l'ordinateur portable ne réalise pas que l'écran est connecté à HDMI.

Sur la partition Windows, le même écran connecté avec le même câble HDMI connecté au même port HDMI a été reconnu immédiatement, le matériel est donc correct.

Unités graphiques intégrées: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M + Intel HD Graphics 530. Les paramètres du serveur NVIDIA X indiquent que les deux fonctionnent correctement. Cependant, il ne détecte aucun affichage externe.

J'ai trouvé plusieurs suggestions de problèmes similaires, généralement regroupées en deux catégories: mettez à jour le noyau ou/et essayez différents pilotes graphiques.

J'ai essayé de faire les deux. En ce qui concerne le noyau, je pense que mon premier logiciel fourni avec Ubuntu 16.04 était 4.4.0 ou plus. Je suis monté en essayant plusieurs versions, dont 4.4.8, 4.8.1, 4.8.17 et je me suis retrouvé sur la nouvelle version 4.9.9.

En ce qui concerne les pilotes graphiques, j’ai essayé plusieurs tutoriels et j’ai fini par avoir cette collection:

J'ai essayé tous ces pilotes et je pense que ce sont les plus récents produits proposés par NVIDIA. Heureusement, rien n’a été rompu avec toutes ces tentatives, mais malheureusement, le problème n’est toujours pas résolu.

J'ai essayé d'utiliser xrandr aussi, j'ai trouvé que "HDMI-1-1 déconnecté". Ajouter une nouvelle résolution 1920x1200 pour mon écran externe et essayer de le forcer avec arandr a abouti à une unité inutilisable sur mon écran principal pour ordinateur portable, heureusement, il a récupéré avec un redémarrage.

J'apprécierai toutes les suggestions, mais aussi les autres pilotes à essayer, ou peut-être d'autres instructions plus exotiques, étape par étape. J'ai cet ordinateur portable spécialement pour mon travail et j'ai besoin d'un écran externe. Merci!

MISE À JOUR: J'ai trouvé un moyen de faire fonctionner le moniteur externe Dell 2709W avec Ubuntu. Aussi curieux et non utilisable soit-il, il peut être utile de trouver une solution réelle:

Cette méthode nécessite un autre ordinateur portable (!) Connecté à un autre port de l'écran. Dans mon cas, il s’agit d’un MacBookPro avec un adaptateur, connecté à l’un des ports DVI. Ceci est pour garder l'affichage allumé - il doit réellement afficher quoi que ce soit à l'écran.

Ce n'est que lorsque j'ai laissé l'ordinateur portable Ubuntu s'endormir une minute ou pire - éteignez-le, le bureau étendu est parti et je dois refaire toute la procédure pour le récupérer. Par conséquent - ce n'est pas une façon de travailler .. mais c'est peut-être un indice pour tout expert en matériel d'affichage/graphisme, comment pourrais-je mieux le gérer?

Il s'agit du rapport xrandr avec le câble HDMI branché sur l'ordinateur portable et le port HDMI du moniteur, et la source HDMI sélectionnée pour le moniteur (et le moniteur en veille):

J'ai eu exactement le même problème avec un ordinateur portable HP Pavillion et un GEFORCE GTX 960M. J'ai eu des problèmes avec le HDMI avec un téléviseur et un beamer.

Je l'ai finalement résolu en installant la dernière version des pilotes open source (nvidia-390 au moment de cet article).

Ces étapes devraient faire le travail: d'abord nettoyer tout gâchis éventuel qu'il pourrait y avoir en faisant

apt-get purge nvidia*

et alors vous pouvez faire l'installation réelle

add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/pp apt update apt-get install nvidia-387

Après le redémarrage, en principe, vous devriez obtenir une sortie non vide pour

lsmod | grep nvidia

mais dans mon cas, c'était vide et c'est pourquoi cela ne fonctionnait pas. Au démarrage, Linux ne chargeait pas les modules appropriés. C'était la faute de UEFI Secure Boot. Apparemment, le démarrage sécurisé n'aimait pas les pilotes open source et les empêchait d'être chargés. Cela peut être corrigé en allant dans le BIOS et en le désactivant (voir ici pour une explication plus détaillée https://askubuntu.com/a/762255 ).

Si cela ne fonctionne toujours pas, vous pouvez essayer de rechercher ces deux problèmes possibles:

Certains autres pilotes ne sont pas sur la liste noire, par exemple nouveau ( https://askubuntu.com/a/951892 )
Le fichier /etc/X11/xorg.conf n'y est pas. Si tel est le cas, générez-le avec nvidia-xconfig

@marek J'ai le même ordinateur portable et le même problème et j'ai réussi à le réparer.

Pour être honnête, je ne suis pas sûr à 100% de la culpabilité, mais vous pouvez essayer quelques petites choses.

Essayez d’installer le dernier pilote nvidia 36 *; lors de mon installation, il s’agit du 367, mais le vôtre est peut-être différent. Vous pouvez vérifier mon exécution à partir de la ligne de commande

Sudo apt-cache search '^nvidia-[:digit]' --names-only

Essayez également d'installer le pilote nvidia-prime, qui est destiné à la plage de cartes nvidia optimus dont dispose cet ordinateur portable.

Essayez d’installer la dernière version 4.4. * Du noyau, ma version est 4.4.25.

Enfin, vérifiez si votre moniteur externe prend en charge le son et l’audio sur le câble HDMI. Le mien fait et je pense que c'est ce qui a causé le problème pour moi. Lorsque j'ai commuté le câble HDMI vers HDMI sur un câble HDMI vers DVI, les choses ont commencé à fonctionner.
