Pourquoi mon WDC WD20EARX-00PASB0 dans un RAID n'arrête-t-il pas de tourner?

Mes disques tournent depuis des mois. Cela a commencé avec Ubuntu 11.10, et continue avec 12.04. Je n'arrive pas à comprendre comment l'arrêter. J'ai consulté diverses suggestions de personnes en ligne sur les temps de validation ext4, noatime, etc. J'ai fait ce qu'ils ont dit, mais toujours pas de chance. C'est maintenant comme la torture de l'eau par les Chinois ... J'entends ces disques qui tournent constamment, cela commence à me rendre fou.

jdb2/dm-1-8 et jbd2/db-0-8 sont généralement les principaux utilisateurs IO. Cependant, j'ai presque tout fermé "echo 1>/proc/sys/vm/block_dump" et regardé dmesg. Les commandes jbd2/dm-1 et jdb2/dm-0 sont correctement remplies toutes les 60 secondes, mais le disque dur continue de tourner dans l’intervalle. dm-1 est monté sur/home et dm-0 en tant que /.

Ma configuration est un peu compliquée:

J'ai un disque SSD où réside la racine, puis deux disques normaux en miroir avec le logiciel RAID où résident d'autres partitions LVM.

En plus de cela vit les partitions LVM. Ensuite,/home est crypté avec ecryptfs.

Sur la base de leurs numéros de modèle (WDC WD20EARX-00PASB0), vos deux disques RAID sont des disques "verts". Ils sont réputés pour stationner et dénaturer en permanence les têtes de lecteurs et ne sont pas recommandés pour les applications RAID.

Jetez un coup d’œil à la sortie de smartctl ou via le "Utilitaire de disque" graphique pour voir les statistiques SMART de ces lecteurs. Ils sont sujets à un nombre très élevé de cycles de chargement/déchargement, résultant de leurs fonctions d'économie d'énergie.

WD fournit un utilitaire appelé "WDIDLE":

ce qui vous permettra de modifier cette propriété et de réduire ou désactiver le stationnement automatique de la tête pour vous aider à retrouver votre santé mentale.

Malheureusement, comme mentionné ci-dessus, l'utilisation de ces disques dans des applications RAID n'est pas recommandée. La meilleure approche consiste donc à les remplacer par des disques appropriés et à les éviter à l'avenir.

Google autour de "Green Drive Raid" et vous trouverez beaucoup de personnes ayant des problèmes avec ces lecteurs.
