J'ai exécuté une fonction sur la base de données qui va dans chaque table, ALTER COLUMN

pour supprimer les zéros de fin. Environ 115 tableaux variant de quelques milliers d'enregistrements à quelques centaines de milliers d'enregistrements. Il fonctionne depuis près de 24 heures et mon calcul approximatif jusqu'à la fin est d'environ 58 heures.

et je vérifie régulièrement.
Je dois mentionner qu'il s'agit d'une installation propre de CentOS minimal d'hier avec vraiment seulement PostgreSQL 9.6.5 dessus. Deux processeurs quad core et 32 Go de RAM.
Selon htop
mon mem est à 620M/31.3G
et il maximise un cœur à la fois, sans jamais vraiment utiliser d'autres cœurs en même temps. Il semble que j'ai une tonne d'espace pour le processeur et l'utilisation de RAM. Il semble que si je pouvais correctement configurer PostgreSQL pour utiliser plus de CPU et de RAM, un processus comme celui que j'exécute maintenant fonctionnerait beaucoup plus vite. Peut-être que je me trompe.
Quels sont les paramètres qui peuvent être ajustés, que ce soit dans Postgres ou dans CentOS, qui permettront une plus grande utilisation?

Les paramètres par défaut dans postgresql.conf
sont très conservateurs et normalement assez bas.
Je suggère les changements suivants:

Vous devriez également envisager de faire fonctionner le processus en parallèle au lieu d'une table après l'autre, si c'est possible. Cela permettrait à votre processus d'utiliser la pleine puissance de votre matériel.
